Documentation of floristic diversity in Ponparakunnu hills, Kozhikode District, Kerala and biological activities of Eclipta prostrata L. and Eupatorium triplinerve Vahl (Asteraceae)

The present study was carried out to document the diversity of medicinal plants in Ponparakunnu hills, Kozhikode district, Kerala and elucidate biological activities Eclipta prostrata Eupatorium triplinerve. repeated field survey conducted totally 30 species belonging 18 families were documented. From documentation family Asteraceae found be dominant area. phytochemical analysis ethyl acetate ethanolic leaf extracts triplinerve revealed presence carbohydrate, protein, phenol, tannin, flavonoids, saponins, glycosides, steroids, terpenoids alkaloids. DPPH vivo antioxidant activity depicted that extract (32.2±1.27) (30.2±1.26) able scavenge stable radical. appreciable antibacterial recorded with maximum zone inhibition (0.6 mm at 10 µL/mL) when compared standard Chloramphenicol. Hence selected triplinerve, can widely used pharmaceutical industry for development new drugs.
